# FAQ

> Answers about who in a StratEngine workspace can see what, what happens to a memo after export, and which plan you need.

Quick answers to common questions about workspaces, exports and plans. For step-by-step fixes, see [Troubleshooting](/docs/account/troubleshooting).

## Workspaces and visibility

### Who in my workspace can see what?

Some things are shared with everyone in your workspace and some are yours alone. For what a workspace is, see [Workspaces](/docs/account/workspaces).

| Item | Who can see it |
| - | - |
| Saved companies | Everyone in the workspace. Anyone can view and edit them. |
| Private documents (uploaded or synced) | Everyone in the workspace. StratEngine searches them in everyone's analyses. |
| Investment memos and research reports from pitch decks (VC) | Everyone in the workspace. |
| Strategy briefs, frameworks, proposals, research reports and decks (Strategy) | Only you. They're listed in your own **File Manager**. |
| Deck share links | Anyone who has the link, until it expires or you revoke it. See [Share a deck with a link](/docs/strategy/decks/share-links). |
| Your export destination | Only you. Each person connects their own. |
| Synced cloud folders | Everyone in the workspace. Only admins can set them up. |
| Team list and roles | Admins, in **Settings**. |
| Plan, balance and usage | Everyone in the workspace. Only admins can change or cancel the plan, update payment details or add funds. |

Upload a private document only if everyone in your workspace should be able to see it.

### Who is in my workspace?

Your workspace is decided by your email domain. Everyone who signs in with an email at your company's domain joins the same workspace. A personal email address (such as Gmail or Outlook.com) gets a workspace of its own. See [Workspaces](/docs/account/workspaces).

## Exports

### What happens to a memo after I export it?

Exporting saves the memo and its research report to your export destination and removes their contents from StratEngine. StratEngine keeps a link to the exported files, and the memo stays listed in **Analysis Memos**.

<Warning>
  After export, the exported file in your storage is the copy you have. If you delete it from your storage, StratEngine can't restore it.
</Warning>

See [Export memos](/docs/vc/export-memos).

### Does exporting a strategy brief remove it from StratEngine?

No. **Export to Docs** creates a copy in your storage (a Google Doc on Google Drive, or a Word file on other providers) and the brief stays in StratEngine. See [Export a document, print, or save as PDF](/docs/strategy/export-documents).

## Plans and billing

### Which plan do I need?

It depends on what you want to do:

* **Strategy:** the Free plan includes a starter set of frameworks. Essential and Professional add more frameworks and deeper analysis, and Professional adds the Proposal Builder. Pay-as-you-go lets you pay per analysis instead of subscribing. See [Strategy plans](/docs/strategy/billing/plans), [Pay-as-you-go](/docs/strategy/billing/pay-as-you-go) and the [Strategy pricing page](https://stratengineai.com/#pricing).
* **VC:** plans differ by how many memos you get each period and what overages cost. See [VC plans and memo overages](/docs/vc/billing/plans) and the [VC pricing page](https://stratengineai.com/investor#pricing).

When a feature needs a higher plan, StratEngine shows it locked or labeled **\[Upgrade]** and offers an upgrade when you click it.

### How do I change who pays for the subscription?

The billing owner can transfer billing to another admin. See [Transfer billing ownership](/docs/account/transfer-billing).

## Devices

### Can I use StratEngine on my phone or tablet?

No. StratEngine is desktop-only. On a phone or tablet you can request a link to open later on a computer. See [Sign in](/docs/account/sign-in#signing-in-from-a-phone-or-tablet).
