# Framework library

> All 29 strategy frameworks StratEngine can run, grouped by category, with the plan each one needs and when to use it.

StratEngine can run 29 strategy frameworks on a company, grouped into four categories. Free includes 4 of them, Essential includes 13, and Professional includes all 29. Pay-as-you-go accounts can run every framework and pay per run.

Each run produces a framework analysis of your company, a useful foundation for a strategy rather than the strategy itself. For a full strategy with a recommended direction, turn the result into a [strategy brief](/docs/strategy/strategy-briefs) or start in [Strategy Builder](/docs/strategy/strategy-builder).

<Note>
  In the app, each framework card shows a tier badge instead of a plan name: **Foundational** frameworks are on every plan, **Growth** frameworks need Essential or higher, and **Advanced** frameworks need Professional. Frameworks outside your plan show an **Upgrade** button instead of **Select**. See [Strategy plans](/docs/strategy/billing/plans).

## How to pick a framework

* **You know the question but not the framework:** on the **Select Framework** step of [Generate a framework](/docs/strategy/generate-framework), click **Help me choose**. It opens Strategy Builder, where you describe your situation instead.
* **You'd rather not pick at all:** start in [Strategy Builder](/docs/strategy/strategy-builder) and choose **Talk it through**. The strategist asks about your situation, picks a framework that fits, and shows it in your brief before the analysis runs.
* **You know which framework you want:** open **Generate Framework**, find it under its category and click **Select**.

If you're unsure where to start, SWOT is a common first run because it covers both internal and external factors.
