Open a memo and click Export to Destination to save the memo and its research report to your export destination, under StratEngine/Pitch Analyses/. Exporting removes both documents’ contents from StratEngine; the memo stays listed in Analysis Memos and opens from the exported file. Once an export destination is connected, new memos are saved straight to it as they’re created, on any plan.
Exporting needs a paid VC plan and your own export destination. On the Free plan the button reads Upgrade to Export and opens the billing portal; see pricing. You can export memos created under your own account (your uploads, folder-watch decks you set up, and decks you forwarded). Teammates can read your memos. If they click Export to Destination, they see Only the person who uploaded this deck can export it.
Exporting removes the memo and research report from StratEngine’s database. StratEngine keeps only a link to the exported files (plus the tile’s summary, score and status). After export, the files in your storage are the copy you have: if you delete them there, StratEngine can’t restore them. There’s no confirmation step, so be sure before you click.

Export a memo

1

Connect an export destination

If the memo shows Connect Destination, click it and connect Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Box. If you connected in another tab, click Refresh connections. You can also connect in Settings under Export destination; see Connect cloud storage.
2

Open the memo

In Analysis Memos, click View Memo on the memo’s tile.
3

Click Export to Destination

StratEngine creates both documents in your storage and opens each one in a new tab. Click the info icon below the button for a reminder of what export does.
If the new tabs don’t open, your browser blocked them; the export still completed. Find the files in your storage, or allow pop-ups for StratEngine. See Troubleshooting.

Where the files go

Each export creates a folder named after the company and date, inside StratEngine/Pitch Analyses/: The memo ends with a link to the research report. StratEngine/Pitch Analyses/ sits at the top level of your storage, or inside the export folder you chose in Settings. See Choose an export folder.

Memos saved straight to storage

If you have an export destination when a deck is analyzed, StratEngine saves the memo and research report to it as part of the analysis, in the same folders. This happens on every plan, including Free: the Upgrade to Export button only limits exporting memos that are already in StratEngine. Their contents are never kept in StratEngine; the tile keeps the summary, score and links. If that save fails, the memo is kept in StratEngine instead, and you can export it later. Connecting storage through folder watch also sets your export destination, so the same applies to decks analyzed after that.

After export

  • View Memo and the tile buttons open the exported files in a new tab.
  • The memo keeps its status and stays in the status tabs.
  • Teammates see the memo in Analysis Memos, but its files live in your storage. They need access to that storage to open them.
  • The export can’t be undone from StratEngine.
