A deck shows an Outdated badge when the strategy brief it was built from has changed since the deck was generated. StratEngine never rebuilds a deck on its own. The deck stays exactly as it was until you click Regenerate Deck on the brief.

Why a deck becomes outdated

A deck is a snapshot of the brief at the moment you generated it. Any later change to the brief’s text makes the deck outdated, for example:
  • You asked Edit with AI to rewrite, add or remove something.
  • You edited the content manually with Edit manually in the AI Editor.
The badge appears in two places:
  • In the document viewer toolbar, next to Share.
  • On the deck’s row in File Manager.
Hover over the badge to see when the deck was generated: Content has changed since this deck was generated on date. Use Regenerate Deck to update it.

Why StratEngine doesn’t regenerate automatically

Each time a deck is generated, the AI writes it fresh, so two decks from the same brief won’t be word-for-word identical. If StratEngine rebuilt decks silently, a deck you had already reviewed or presented could change without you knowing. Instead, the deck you approved stays put and the badge tells you it no longer matches the brief.

Update an outdated deck

1

Open the strategy brief

Open the brief, not the deck. From File Manager, click the brief’s row.
2

Click Regenerate Deck

Choose a brand kit if asked, then click Generate. See Generate a deck.
3

Check the new deck

The new deck opens in a new tab and the Outdated badge disappears.
Regenerating replaces the previous deck. StratEngine keeps only the newest deck for each brief, so the old version can’t be reopened afterwards. If you need it, export it before you regenerate.

What happens to shares and exports

Until you regenerate, share links and Export use the outdated deck.
