Private documents are files that aren’t public, like business plans, board decks and customer research. Upload them in Settings under Private documents and StratEngine searches them in every analysis, alongside its public research. Each upload is indexed first, then marked Ready.
Private documents are visible to everyone in your workspace, and StratEngine searches them in everyone’s analyses. Upload a document only if your whole workspace should be able to see it.

Upload documents

1

Open Settings

Click Settings in the side menu and find the Private documents section.
2

Add files

Drag files onto the box that says Drop files here, or choose files, or click it to pick files.
3

Wait for Ready

Each file shows Uploading…, then Indexing…, then Ready. You can leave the page while files index. Analyses use a document once it’s Ready.

You can also add private documents during onboarding, in the Private documents step.

Supported files and limits

The document total counts uploaded files and files from a synced cloud folder together. See File limits by plan. If you upload a file that’s already there, StratEngine skips it and tells you, for example 1 file was already uploaded.

Document statuses

Remove a document

Click the × at the end of the document’s row. The document and everything StratEngine indexed from it are removed, and future analyses no longer use it. You can remove documents you uploaded. Workspace admins can remove any uploaded document. A file can’t be removed while it’s indexing; wait until it finishes.

Private documents or a synced folder

Uploading works well for a handful of files. If your documents already live in Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, a workspace admin can sync a cloud folder instead, and StratEngine keeps it up to date. Files from a synced folder aren’t listed in the Private documents section, but they count toward the same total.
